OPTICAL LAPPING COMPANY Inc.
Notable Features: All polishing tables are made of thick, solid Granite in diameter sizes from 52" and above. Granite CP tables provide the optimum mechanical and thermal stability needed for high precision optics. In the Pitch Polishing configuration, the “Bruiser” (Truing Plate) station has two powerful DC gearmotors, one to rotate the bruiser and another to allow the operator to position the bruiser precisely on the lap using a precision lead screw and digital controls or scales. The 3 remaining part stations are also driven and speed controlled by DC gearmotors. Each of the polisher stations also incorporate a lead screw apparatus to position the part rings precisely. These stations can be furnished with the option of a hand crank, or motorized with a gearmotor for positioning. In the Pad Grinding and Pad Polishing configurations there is no bruiser, resulting in 4 or 3 part stations each furnished with aluminum rings which serve to control the flatness of the table through correct positioning, and which also serve to hold parts and septum’s for the grinding operations. In the Pad configurations, each of the 4 or 3 part stations are driven and speed controlled (in rotation) by DC gearmotors, and each incorporate a lead screw mechanism to position the part (correcting) rings precisely. These stations can be ordered furnished with the option of a hand crank, or motorized with a gearmotor for positioning. The ability for the operator to individually rotate a station at a varying speed, and to position it precisely to a location, provides exceptional ability to condition the flatness of the lap and to tailor the figure of the work piece. Adding to this is the ability to vary the speed of the table rotation. Controlling these 3 variables to adjust for changing conditions are important tools for the operator. These features apply to both Grinding and Polishing configurations.
